About
I'm a level 3 qualified personal trainer, a specialist pre and post natal personal trainer and a functional training coach at F45 Kingston.
My biggest passion as a trainer is working with people who are scared to get started, and helping them to find a way to GET STARTED, and totally enjoy it. The more scared you are to step foot into a traditional gym, the more I want to train you!
A little about me...
I love exercise. I genuinely do. I'm the person who will come and try some new niche class or sport with you when no one else will, even if I know I'll be crap at it (it's pretty annoying to a lot of people). And I want everyone else to get the joy I do from exercise. And if I'm being honest, the main reason not everyone feels this way is that so much of the health and fitness industry is... for lack of a more eloquent phrase... fucked up. If you're feeling guilty that you don't work
out enough, breathe a sigh of relief, that's not on you, but you're here,
which means you're thinking about it, and there IS enjoyable
exercise out there for everyone. You just need the right setting,
and a non- judgemental trainer (ahem... me).
And a little about me as a pre and post natal trainer...
I'm not only a pre and post natal trainer, but I'm 6 months post-partum
myself. 5 days after I found out I was pregnant, I was due to complete my first
Hyrox event, and had no idea whether I should be competing in an endurance event pregnant, and to be honest what I should and shouldn't do, even as a PT. The information is sparse and so much is so dated, and so I decided the only way to really know is to learn for myself. I trained in real-time with myself as case-study. I loved (almost) every moment of my awesome active pregnancy (I was blessed with a low-risk, no complication pregnancy). I still can't believe what I achieved whilst growing a tiny human from scratch. And I was so ready for birth, which I lovingly referred to as my "big sporting event of the year". Going hard 9 months preggo is not everyone's thing, I totally get it, but having whatever an "active pregnancy" means to you at its best makes you feel like a stronger version of yourself than you ever thought possible, and at worst a great way to keep you and your unborn child thriving for those 9 months you are as one. So the big sporting event happened, I have my amazing daughter, and my "training" served me wonderfully through a very long but drama free labour. And post-partum felt good... until at 10 weeks pp I had a pelvic organ prolapse (a cystocele / bladder prolapse), and once again I felt completely in the dark about what the bloody hell I was supposed to do?! (I'm so lucky that I have an incredible women's health physio, but without her I would have followed a lot of... again... sparse and dated information.) But here I am building myself a brand-new version of myself, changed forever by a beautiful tiny human and also by the event that brought her into the world. I could not get it more, which is why I have to share my story... pregnancy and post-partum are no joke, physically and mentally - some of it is more amazing that I ever thought possible, and some of it is daaaaark. I am here if you're completely lost pre or post natally.
